CITIES OF LIGHT

You know the musical Cabaret Cities of Light gives you the Jewish story. This show will transport you to the cabarets of 1920s Berlin, Yiddish Warsaw, Paris, and pre-State Tel Aviv. Katarina Waldorf is your guide; she’s a funny and brave cabaret performer who flees Berlin towards places where Judaism and creativity can still thrive. Through her story, you will come to celebrate an entire community of almost forgotten artists.

Cities features great old songs, now performed mostly in English and ranging in tone from heartbreaking to ridiculously silly. And it is all framed by Katarina’s story, which has inspired and delighted audiences around the world.

The show has been presented at synagogues, cabarets and JCC’s across the US, and at prominent theater venues in Paris, Warsaw, London, Jerusalem, Los Angeles, Montreal, Miami, and New York City. Anne Quesemand, Artistic Director of La Vieille Grille Theater in Paris, exclaims, “Rebecca will make you laugh riotously and move you to tears. You will feel so proud to be a Jew. I have never seen anything quite like Cities; this show is gold!”

Cities of Light runs 75 minutes and requires minimal set up and lighting. It is appropriate for ages 13 and up.
